Manager of Communications and Events

Job Title: Manager of Communications and Events

Location: Currituck Chamber of Commerce, Currituck County, North Carolina
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for leading all aspects of the chamber's communications strategy and event management efforts to enhance visibility, engagement, and impact within the community and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Communications:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans to promote the chamber's mission, programs, and initiatives through various channels, including digital media, press releases, newsletters, and social media platforms.
    • Create engaging content, including articles, blog posts, videos, and graphics, to convey key messages and showcase chamber activities, events, and member achievements.
    • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to the chamber and its stakeholders, proactively respond to inquiries, and manage crisis communications as needed.
    • Coordinate regular communication channels, such as newsletters, emails, and social media, to keep members informed and involved in chamber activities. 
    • Cultivate relationships with local media outlets, influencers, and community partners to amplify the chamber's voice and increase media coverage.
  2. Event Management:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute a diverse range of chamber events, including networking mixers, educational workshops, business luncheons, and community festivals, to foster member engagement, attract new audiences, and drive revenue.
    • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, budget management, registration, promotion, and on-site execution, to ensure seamless and successful outcomes.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors to deliver high-quality events that align with the chamber's strategic objectives and meet the needs and expectations of attendees.
    • Evaluate event performance and attendee feedback, analyze key metrics, and generate post-event reports to assess effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and inform future event planning efforts.
  3. Brand Management:
    • Maintain and strengthen the chamber's brand identity, messaging consistency, and visual standards across all communication channels and materials, including website content, marketing collateral, signage, and merchandise.
    • Develop and implement creative marketing campaigns and promotional strategies to increase awareness, membership, and participation in chamber programs and events.
