Each year Currituck Beach Lighthouse, the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education, and Whalehead in Historic Corolla co-host an annual Winter Education Series in Corolla. Our hope is to continue together our individual missions to educate throughout our “off season” and offer something appealing to local residents and visitors alike. Past speakers have covered everything from shipwrecks, lighthouse construction, local flora/fauna, life saving stations, the Outer Banks History Center, Tiffany lighting, JP Knapp, Chicamacomico, Uboats, Coastal Studies Institute, and the list goes on.
For 2015 we are highlighting the Charles Kuralt Trail with a mini film festival.
January 13, 2015 will feature Mackay Island
February 17, 2015 will feature Alligator River
Speakers from these sites will present a film associated with their respective site and talk about the history and/or wildlife associated there.
The seminar will be held at the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education in Currituck Heritage Park. Free to attend, reservations are requested at 252.453.9040 or by email at info@visitwhalehead.com. Refreshments will be served and donations are welcome.
