Experience Christmas in the Appalachian Mountains during World War I through the heart warming holiday story of a little girl and her family—a story Gloria Houston, author of The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree, learned from her mother and grandmother. In addition, view the Albemarle Express train as it travels the region, and hear performances by Music off Main. You can also make an early20th-century ornament and enjoy carriage and pony rides. The Polar Express (2004; MPAA rating: G; run time: 100 min.) will be shown at 10:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 2:15 p.m., and Santa will stop by at 1:30 p.m. to make sure he has your wish list. With the museum decorated for the holidays, bring your camera for photo ops, too! And, each guest will receive a keepsake bell ornament.
