The Night of a Thousand Stars reading program encourages kids to read with the promise that, for every book read, Whalehead will illuminate a light in Heritage Park. In addition, each student's name will be on a Christmas tree representing their class in the basement of Whalehead. The Grand Illumination of Heritage Park and Currituck Beach Lighthouse is the second annual holiday event. Last year, 28,000 lights sparkled to celebrate the 1.2 million pages read by more than 2,700 students, and 38 classroom trees lit up the mansion's basement! 2014 will be even bigger and brighter!
Join us this year at Currituck Heritage Park as we announce the numbers and watch the faces of hundreds of Currituck County students light up as we illuminate the park with thousands of lights! $5 donation requested. All funds donated to Currituck County literacy programs!
